Beckwith Urges Registrants To Be Careful In Filling Questionnaires

RAPID CITY April 16 Special The time to claim deferment under the Selective Service Act is at the time the registrant fills out his questionnaire according to Colonel Edward A Beckwith state director of Selective Service Some registrants fill out their questionnaires very sketchily and when they are examined and placed in Class I A come before their local boards and state their reasons why they believe they should be deferred The past reason for having questionnaires filled out is to enable the local board to classify the registrant properly but if he does not put down all the pertinent information about himself obviously he cannot be properly classified by his local board Therefore all registrants are urged to fill out their questionnaires fully and carefully so that their classifications may be correct in the first instance Advisory boards for registrants are set up in each county and any registrant may go to one of these board members and get aid in filing out his questionnaire free of charge.
