Brune testified he was tied to bootlegging but not among the four robbers. Alibi witnesses including his wife and brother Ben Brune Gus Beaner and Brune Hirtz backed his claim. State witnesses Carl Lindbloom ex assistant cashier and a witness N C Grasser 82 also testified.

The bank reports 36000 capital and 6000 surplus. The change leaves Wayland without a bank and leaves Wessington with one fewer bank.
Members of the South Dakota Association of Optometry voted to recommend Dr. R. C. Letherer of Aberdeen for appointment by Gov. Berry to the state board of optometry. The three day convention closed with an evening banquet after lectures by Dr. George Cross of Los Angeles. Election of officers is set for Friday morning.

Virgil Brown a Shawnee World War II veteran was found guilty by a jury of murdering his wife the former Mrs. Mark Elmsley of Windsor Ontario. The victim a Windsor family member was found in a roadside ditch near El Reno on October 17. Brown testified he did not kill her claiming she planned to visit her mother in Ontario with a man named Wilson. The state argued he drove them to the scene and killed her before returning to Shawnee where he was arrested.
Police report two suspects linked to John Dillinger’s gang in a high profile bust. Evelyn Frechetti, a Dillinger associate, is in DOJ custody after a habeas corpus bid set her apart from other detainees.
Samuel Insull Sr was moved under guard from a Turkish detention house in Istanbul toward Smyrna to board the Exllona sailing Friday for formal extradition to the United States. Turkish police will hand him over to American diplomat Burton Y. Berry, third secretary of the U S embassy in Turkey.
