Nine Year Old Miller Girl Drowns in Creek
Miller April 9. Nine year old Jeanette Johnson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O Johns on of Miller drowned yesterday afternoon in Old Mills Pond near her home. She had been helping prepare supper when she vanished and a search by police fire department and the sheriff began immediately. The body was found near midnight twenty feet from the bank in five feet of water with a coat on the bank nearby.

Coroner finds no foul play in death. family cited

CAB Proposes 41.33 Cents Per Mile For Mid-Continent Routes
Washington April 9 The Civil Aeronautics Board proposed a base rate of 41.33 cents per airplane mile as fair compensation for Mid-Continent Airlines two mid west routes. The board said the rate would increase the line's annual pay by about 180000 dollars and would be retroactive to January 1. The carrier had sought 91 cents for both routes.

British forces report gains near Gazala Tobruk area
British columns captured Axis troops between Tmimi and El Gazala about 75 miles southwest of Tobruk. El Gazala lies 40 miles west of Tobruk and Tmimi 20 miles farther west. British headquarters said the enemy made no further advance yesterday while Soviet dispatches claim Hitler already deployed camouflaged tanks and 1942 aircraft as Red Army air units and anti aircraft crews engage on the Russian front.

Soviet claims air strikes cripple German transports near Staraya Russa
