Social Circles Honor Captain and Officers of Survey Ship Egerin

An evening in Honolulu honored the Captain and officers of the survey ship Egerin with a September 25 dane. Guests included the Tenneys, Bishops, Walkers, Browns, Meiers, Kitosts, and many others, with a reception by H Hackfeld & Co. on October 4 to mark the firm’s fiftieth anniversary. The live social scene featured a cake walk at the Wilder home and plans for gatherings at Eskbank and other venues as high society attendance continued.

Man Charged Driver Nolle Prosequi After Fatal Collision

Pres'd Jacinto Miguel faced first degree manslaughter charges after a coal cart collision killed a local native. Prosecutors failed to find sufficient evidence for trial, leading to a nolle prosequi in the Police Court forenoon. Miguel was the driver of the dray involved in the fatal accident.

Boston Lyrics Open Season at Victoria Opera House

The Boston Lyric Opera Company opened a season at the Victoria Globe Opera House, Sept. 290d, promising one of the most interesting lists of grand and comic opera in the city. The ensemble includes about 40 carefully selected voices and draws fashionable city audiences each evening next week.

Public lands proclamation sparks government land recalls

Fair on grounds of St Andrew’s Cathedral with music

The fair and last on the grounds of St Andrew's Cathedral have run since 11 o'clock this forenoon with very good success. A canvas pavilion near the Barotonia Street entrance hosts the jana part and another lighter refreshment spot is in the Sunday School room. Admission on Roma Street. The Quintette Club provides music, and this evening the grounds will feature Chinese lanterns.
