Counterfeiting probe and court actions in Honolulu

The District Attorney reports a widespread counterfeiting scheme of United States silver currency abroad reaching Honolulu. Two Chinese suspects, Hu Young and Lai Wing, were arrested after a bold street exchange, with coins dated 1865 and Hawaii issues seized. The case, along with court backlog and proposed frontier justice reforms, dominates a long session covering treasurer irregularities, plague expenditures, and calls for three circuit judges.

Treasury defalcation shocks Territory as treasurer flees
