Twenty minutes after leaving the steamer the Nomination party reached the courthouse to begin business. The reception committee arranged for speakers and prepared statements for the Senators as Judge Little opened with an address welcoming the visitors.
Citizens of Hilo appeal to U S Senators Mitchell and others, urging support for territorial governance reforms and protection of constitutional rights. They call for clear demarcation of powers, critique land laws, and urge federal oversight to curb local corruption while detailing coffee, land, and labor issues affecting Hawaii.
The Republican Municipal Commission names Hon. Wm O Smith A G M Robertson A L C Atkinson J D Tenney Jay Ovo W Smith Reg Vi 1 HOLATEIN chairman and J D Avery secretary to draft a county and territorial government bill for Legislature approval. The report will go to the Republican Territorial Committee for ratification and distribution to district committees.
