Twenty minutes after leaving the steamer the Nomination party reached the courthouse to begin business. The reception committee arranged for speakers and prepared statements for the Senators as Judge Little opened with an address welcoming the visitors.

Prisoner Mendipo Found Dead in Ouhi Jail Cell

Mendipo, a Porto Rican prisoner serving ten years at hard labor for Maui burglary, was found hanging in his tin cell at Ouhi Jail after being locked in. He had shown no signs of distress before the incident and was discovered early morning by jail staff.
