Tragic Deaths On Maui End In Suicide After Family Tragedy
On a Friday morning in September a body was found near the public road above Kahului Maui. The deceased, a Porto Keioan resident from Puunene, suffered a long illness and a leg sarcoma. His only daughter was harmed by a fellow islander, leading to unbearable grief. He hanged himself in a distant forest after a preliminary inquest by the Sheriff. The jury ruled death by the man’s own action, the body discovered recently by a Chinese woodcutter.
