German Submarine Plan Aims At North Pole Undersea Rift
London reports detail German scientist Kampfe and Behrott proposing a submarine venture to reach the North Pole by diving beneath the polar ice. The design features a claw-shaped 400 ton hull, 70 by 26 feet, with a central heated living area, nonconductive linings, and a single hatch. Voyage would last about fifteen hours, with potential for offshore openings and a controlled ascent if the belt of ice thins, raising cautious predictions and defense anxieties.
