Transport City of Puebla Arrives En Route to Manila With 651 Enlisted
The U S A Transport City of Puebla carrying six hundred fifty one enlisted men and officers arrived this morning from San Francisco en route to Manila. Captain D B Devort commands the troops with Chaplain Freeland and lieutenants Ripley Cowin Mould E McLeno among the officers. The voyage from San Francisco started August 29 and encountered fair weather but shipboard rolling caused discomfort. The crew includes surgeons Weaver Simpson and others. Mascot a nine year old child shipped aboard. The Puebla will stay two days for coal and then proceed to Manila, with 30 kegs of beer as cargo for Honolulu and reports of Transvaal rumor nearby.
