New Utah Star to Join US Flag in Constellation

New National Color Standards Promised by War Department

The War Department plans to produce a large quantity of National colors for the army with a redesigned flag to be issued on July 4, 1896. The new flag will be 5 feet 6 inches long and 4 feet 4 inches wide with a field of 2 feet 6 inches by 2 feet 4 inches and a nine foot staff. The thirteen stripes remain but are narrowed to four inches.

Mounted Patrol Drill at Makiki This Afternoon

A proctien drill of the Mounted Patrol takes place at Makiki this afternoon at 4 o'clock. The maneuvers will chiefly cover mounting and dismounting, and teaching horses to stand at command. Captain Onok leads twenty three patrol men and three officers as he trains new members in horseman ship.
