Reports confirm fighting near Krasipan and Mafeking amid Boer ultimatums. KruGer forces, led by Kruger, pledge common cause with the Transvaal, while several armored trains and rail stations are attacked or destroyed. Casualties feared, with ongoing clashes across Mafeking, Botohas Pass, and surrounding borders.
London reports that October 14 letters from Cape indicate a new telegram exchange. The Ex change Telegraph Company confirms receipt of the dispatch and notes ongoing transmission arrangements between Cape and London offices.
Clay Clement appears this afternoon in the Corsican Brothers. The Two Orphans, billed as the greatest melodrama, will be presented tonight with Frank Curtis prominent in the cast. Monday features the Robertson Inn comedy Gnate and Tuesday promises Clay Clement’s masterpiece The Monatebank.
Robert W. Saingle was elected to a seat in the Honolulu Stock Exchange this morning. He succeeds A. B. Wood who, with other interests, cannot attend to the growing stock business of H. Waterhouse & Co. Saingle will begin independent dealings but remains tied to H. Waterhouse & Co.
Very heavy rain reported on Maui over several days with Hilo districts drenched. Hamekua and Kona record large rainfall while Kanai in Kauai remains comparatively dry. Wet weather hinders steamers entering various ports.
In Kapaa tonight a large entertainment event unfolds at the sugar shed to benefit the Portugases Brass Band. Kausi J. Toms oversees arrangements and will participate in the performance.
The Friedenthal concert at M.C.A. drew a large audience as Frie denthal showcased piano while Dr. OQ. E. Wall impressed with violin work. Miss Cnatlo is slated to appear in a recital Monday evening.
Fog and light winds halted the Shamrock Columbia contest series from Oct. 10 to Oct. 14. Sir Thomas Lipton and others faced repeated delays as boats remained on moorings, with no race completed. Weather finally showed slight improvement on Oct. 14 but a decisive race remained uncertain.

Reports from Manila say Lieutenant Sandago of the native police was arrested and jailed after a subordinate alleged he sought to enlist officers to incite a rising against Americans. In San Francisco the Twentieth Kansas Regiment and 400 discharged soldiers arrived aboard the Tartar and were landed. Ottawa cabinet announces 1000 Canadian soldiers will join the British force to fight the Boers. A local court finds no evidence against Henry Wide for illegally selling without a license. In the Doers House this evening, Mr. Lanedale performs in the church scene of Two Orphans, featuring a baritone sing.
The steamer Australia arrived from Honolulu reporting a rough voyage with seas breaking over decks and the ship nearly all the time awash. Captain Houdlette said October weather was the roughest he had encountered. The vessel entered port with little fuel remaining.
A quiet week in society circles aside from several dinners. Mr and Mrs A J Campbell hosted Mr and Mrs J A Wilder Thoraday. On Monday Mr and Mrs G P Wilder dine with Mr and Mrs J A Wilder. On Tuesday Miss Whiddfield will host a luncheon.
President McKinley’s special train arrived in Aberdeen at 1 o'clock this morning over the Milwaukee line. A large crowd gathered at the depot to greet the nation’s leader, marking his first visit to the Dakotas since statehood.
Signor Marconi plans to send today's race bulletins to The Call and Herald while Mr Cross of Honolulu travels to New York to discuss an inter island wireless system for Hawaii. Experimental stations ordered in Honolulu should arrive by November. New York reports Bishop Henry C. Potter plans a trip to the Philippines after a stay in Honolulu. The journey may last three to four months with Rev. Porcey Stickney Grant accompanying him. They expect to sail from San Francisco aboard the steamer Galaxy around October 21 or 23.
