Democratic convention nominates Hentet in Eleventh District

The Democratic Congressional Convention of New York Eleventh District met tonight and unanimously nominated William Randolph Hentet for Congress. The district comprises assembly districts seven nine eleventh thirteenth and fifteenth and parts of the fifth and seventh with 270 delegates in attendance.

Robbery at hotel targets Maus party in Honolulu

Lieut Col and Mrs Maus were at a hotel reception when a burglar unlocked a locked room and stole a handbag and dress case. The handbag held small valuables including four razors and about $20 in cash. A piece of the dress case was cut open during the theft, and items belonging to Mrs Maus were taken. Police investigated at the scene.

Brown on Wright and the Wright escape from Alameda

High Sheriff Brown discussed the Wright escape aboard the Alameda. Wright, mining treasurer, likely fled south from San Francisco aboard a steamer. Despondent Fireman Jumps Overboard on Anglia

On the Anglia a British cable steamer moored in Port Said, a fireman leapt from the rail into the Red Sea during a hot August voyage. Despite rescue attempts, he was lost. It is noted the man faced harsh pressure from work and mental strain during his first voyage as a fireman.

Wireless work advances Kaena Point to Kauai chain

F J Crow of the Wireless System said pole erection at Kaena Point for the Kauai service is underway and should finish in four to five days. He added Kauai work proceeds in parallel and interisland repairs can be moved between Oahu and Kauai within about two weeks. A house is being built near Nawikiwilt pole for the Kauai operator.
