Mhwarts Oat Co Mhwarts Oat Marches On Island

Company Mhwarts Oat and Company H of the New York Volunteers began their march on the island this morning. They traveled over the Pali with blankets canteens haversacks and tin caps. Twenty four men rode on army wagons while Captain Hitchcork and lieutenants rode horseback. The men expressed delight with the outing and many wore flowers on their belts and guns.

Licenses Issued For Waikiki Light Wine and Beer Sale

The Executive Council votes licenses limited to Oahu and Hawaii for light wines and beer under the late Legislature. Wines must stay under eighteen percent strength, beers under eleven. Licenses issued to owners actively managing the businesses with hours 7 am to 8 pm daily except Sundays and holidays. Renewals require a no-screen interior view restriction at main street entrances, Union saloon leads by example.

Traffic Blockade Delays Fort Street As Camara & Co Unloads Wine

On Fort street a major disruption halted traffic as trucks piled with barrels and kegs blocked the way. Captain Camara led a large crew unloading wine from the Italian-Swiss Colony consignments bound for Camara & Co. in what was described as one of the world’s largest vineards to reach California’s markets.

Guarded Night Amid Quiet Town Patrols

Chey Well reports show two-person guards and conspicuous police presence during the night. A drunken soldier was arrested and released after sobering up. A hack driven madly around the Y M A corner collided with carriages at the copper event, damaging James Lyle’s buggy and others without a runaway, amid suspicions of reckless intent.

Too Many Watching as Steward J von Hagen Is Dismissed

J von Hagen was dismissed as part steward of the Later Island Company on Saturday and Guy Kelly was appointed to the place. Yesterday afternoon von Hagen attempted to board the Australia but crowds blocked his escape with Harry Evans helping to bring the former steward ashore.

Forgery Charge Traced to Waisane Man

Joe Barrowa of Waisane was arrested on forgery charges for signing Sam Andrews name to a $20.10 draft drawn on the Bank of Hawaii. The back bore San Andrewe. the station agent identified the signature though the name appeared along the draft. The money was obtained by Barrows.
