Ship Slip Off Port With 400 Filibusters On Board

Board of Health meeting considers cholera and travel rules

At yesterday’s Board of Health session bids for beef cattle for the leper settlement were opened and awarded to W. J. Cornwell at 17 per head. A long debate on reopening district schools followed, with restrictions on infected districts and boiled water requirements. The Chamber of Commerce urged loosening interisland travel and trade restrictions, proposing selective export of goods and temporary travel freedoms. Three Perjury Cases In Police Court Session

In a Police Court session this morning Jourdan pleaded guilty to vagrancy. Several defendants faced opium and liquor charges with one case dismissed for lack of evidence. Ah Ying and Ah Mun were linked to perjury trials, while Ah Lung, Ah Hu, and others faced various charges. Several defendants were held for the next Circuit Court term with bail set or forfeited.
