Suicide of Steward Walker Shocks Canadian Pacific Crew

Vancouver Sept 18 Steward TW Walker of the Kay press of India and a member of the Canadian PacificSteamship department reportedly killed himself under perplexing circumstances. Blythe, in charge of doctors, and Walker appeared to deteriorate mentally with plans to end his life. A late night incident near Virfork involved a cash box and a discussion of self harm. Blythe later showed signs of considering suicide, requiring morphine injections to calm him. Walker, a polished Englishman, had been away two months and faced a personal crisis at home before the incident. The narrative intertwines with broader maritime and international trade notes from 1887.
