Coal Fire Burns Large Pile at Pacific Mail Wharf

Smoke issued from a 3000 ton coal pile belonging to H Hackford Co between the fish market and Pacific Mail wharf. Fire Dept. sent Engine 1 and hose lines. Water from the bay and Toyomaru pumps battled the blaze. By 2 15 pm Chief Engineer Hunt reported the fire largely out though pumping to continue until safe.
