Higher Court Hears Minor Case and Estate Actions

The higher court adjourned after hearing the Hawaiian Government case against H F Poor and others. Final receipts show a 15 158 1000 percent dividend for creditors. Judge Carter ordered Gaspar Sylva to file a 5000 bond for trust duties, amid objections by Frances E B Jackson who cites ineligibility to prosecute the trust. Hartwell represents the petitioner while Castle appears for Sylva and Mrs Jackson.

Population changes in Hawaii exceed six thousand since 1800

Superintendent Atkinson notes Hawaii Island population at 83 272 with small corrections. Population rose from 26 754 in 1800 by over 6500, North Kohala declines 174, Pua up 1748, North Kona up 1308, South Kona up 520, Punas and Konas gains linked to new small farm settlements.
