Meedies Narrow Escape After Hackman Collision on King Street
H J Platts chief engineer of Mikabala escaped injury when a hack struck him on King Street near Manua Kea street yesterday afternoon. Platts, alighting from a streetcar to reach his whip, was knocked down but unharmed though his clothes were filled with dust. A police officer on the corner failed to intervene or arrest the hackman.

In a Saturday afternoon contest at Kakanko butte, Company D defeated Company B to capture the big rifle prize with Private Harris scoring 44 to 42. D also took the ten-man overall score 403 to 385 and Sergeant Barnette won the cash prize in the burlap shoot. Captains and observers praised the fair conduct and smooth running of the event as both teams supplied skilled marksmen and the match featured notable performances by Harris, Barnette, and others from Company D.
