In Chemulpo Korea on November 3 a clash broke out between Russian and Japanese sailors ashore. The brawl grew violent, leaving a good number injured amid the city’s waterfront area as tensions flared during shore liberty.
The transport Thomas, delayed by a hurricane after leaving Manila on October 1, docked at the Navy wharf at 8 o clock morning. Severe waves wrecked lifeboats and parts of the vessel, flooding the saloon and injuring some, but Captain Bafford and crew guided all to safety. The ship proceeds to San Francisco at 5 80 this afternoon, carrying Col. H. O. S. Helutand Major F. P. Freemont Maj. Otto von Etzel and others aboard.
