Readers urged to act fast as a three and a half week contest nears. Candidates urged to read tips, recruit subscriptions, and maximize votes through extended payment plans and special offers. Local newspapers promote reader engagement and equal access to prizes while detailing how subscriptions translate to votes during the campaign period.
An early 20th century notice details prizes for a district contest. It mentions a Regal automobile awarded to a young woman with the largest tally, four district prizes, and a possibility of multiple prizes per winner. It asks about eligibility, entry timing, and the importance of pressuring a strong campaign before the close.
District listings name Mrs J K Hiram and Helen Notley along with addresses such as Parker Lane 329 Buckle Lane and 245 School. Several other names and streets appear including Alberta Wholley rt Blatter Davi K Watson and Alina Mole Prestidge 120 Pun Lane, with miscellaneous numbers and coded figures.
The notice explains that a NEW subscriber must have not subscribed before April 7 and must maintain the subscription under the same name to count as new. Reassigning a subscription within a family, stopping and reordering under another name, or transferring ownership is not NEW. All subscriptions will be checked and votes tied to subscriptions deemed NEW will be void if they are actually OLD. The policy aims to ensure fairness during the campaign and will be strictly enforced.
