Judge Gear laid to rest in solemn Mason lodge funeral
The late Judge Gear was laid to rest yesterday at Masonry Temple with the Pacific Lodge and two other local Masonite lodges taking part. Members and attendees filled the hall for the public service, floral tributes from friends, prominent officials, and various orders. Reverend Wardman preached, and the procession moved to Niam cemetery, where prayers were offered, reflecting the high esteem in which he was held. Also noted were business news about Chas. M. Schwab’s warning to end federal clip building contracts and related iron works concerns at Union Iron Works.

A drunken Japanese man in Kentucky started a night fire by burning an evening lamp. Police Officer Takanaka roused at 5 AM and saved two people from injuries and possible worse. The injured man lost skin from heat but is expected to recover past shock.
