Tea Standards Set to Reform Impure Imports

The Treasury Department will enforce a new act prohibiting import of teas below established standards. New York shipments will carry sample lines from seven expert standards, with half-pound packages sold at cost to importers. The Memorial Day committee of Gen. W. De Long Post G A R decides no evening literary events at the Opera House. After the marches to the cemetery the members will not wish to attend more, and theater costs would be wasteful. With several war vessels in port and a large expected turnout, the parade will be the main event. the orator will speak briefly, not exceeding twenty minutes.

Paroled prisoner Fred Dreaksan, moved by the song Where Is My Wandering Boy Tonight, is said to be granted freedom for aiding the case. London April 20 The chancellor Sir Michael Hicks Beach read the budget. The 1896 97 balance allows the exchequer revenue to £101,477,000 with expenditures of £101,477,000 leaving a surplus of £2,437,000. The national debt was reduced £7,584,000 during the year. British trade for the last fiscal year reached £738,100,000, up 6 per cent. Income tax revenue exceeded the estimate by nearly £3,500,000.
