SHANGHAI KWAN China May evacuation of Newehwang by Russians continues. Reports from seemingly reliable sources state Port Arthur garrison short of coal and provisions.
Hospital Corps soldier Vogt arrived on the transport Thomas and walked to a harbor area with two comrades. While swimming between the cattlepen tower and a dredger, Vogt disappeared. A rescue party including Captain Filut searched the water but found no body.
Dr. C. B. Cooper is elected delegate by the Hawaiian Territorial Medical Association for the American Medical Association annual meeting in Atlantic City June 7 10. He will leave Antig Riberi May 7 1 to attend the Conference of State and Territorial Wealth officers in Washington June 21 hoping to return in time for Atlantic City. Cooper chairs the Jeproay and White section and will seek federal support for local issues and potential funding for original research and specialists. The conference will include reports from many sections and general discussions.
High Sheriff Brown reports a May murder near Anahola involving Hanamoto who attacked Ishimoto with a hatchet after work at Makee Sugar Company. Ishimoto died, found under trash in a cave. Coney and Tanaka were present. no witnesses. The incident stirred local tension toward Hanamoto as the suspect.
Dr W M Kin lectured on Rambles in Old Rome with optical views at Central Union Church last night. He described ruins of Caesar’s palaces and the Colosseum, and illustrated points of the Appian Way. Court crowded with residents as about sixty parties named against the Superintendent of Public Instruction alleging all valley water belongs to the Government. Hearings likely to last sixty days with witnesses examined and alumni at Labathaninma School sharing life stories and hardships.

The Adame arrived from San Francisco and docked at Naval Wharf No. 1 around 10 am.
