Nuuanu Avenue to Be Widened by City and County

City and county engineers proposed widening upper Nuuanu Avenue to at least fifty feet. Property owners along the road agreed to convey land for right of way after court and board consultations. The measure aligns with Honolulu Rapid Transit plans to extend trolley service toward the Country Club, with opposition by George Alexander in a separate suit. The motion was presented May 7 at 220 and the case had been pending for a year.
