Cooper Reports on Building Encroachments to House

Cooper replies to House Resolution 211 regarding building encroachments on public streets. Insurance Company Deposit Bills Passes In Senate Session

In a long session the Senate discussed a tax measure requiring insurance companies to deposit with the government or U S entities amounts up to 12000 locally, replacing earlier 25000 proposals. The Ways and Means Committee urged that firms without real estate deposits face the new rule, while some insurers warned it could be oppressive. The committee urged 12000 as adequate, adopting the report and sending the bill to third reading.

Floating Dock Proposed for Honouis Harbor

Plans call a small floating dock to aid wakeful steamers and vessels. AP dispatch from Manila reports a fierce clash involving Macabebe forces ending in a decisive defeat for the enemy. Scouts suffered three killed and eleven wounded while forty five enemy soldiers were killed. Unconfirmed reports say Miguel was killed in the fight.

Dr Wile Home From Honolulu Trip After 10,000 Mile Journey

After an absence of nearly three months they traveled over ten thousand miles and returned to Danbury. Dr Wile and Mrs Wile spent most of the time in Honolulu with a California stop and a brief quarantine in San Francisco on the return voyage. The party praised the Hawaiian islands for climate and people, while Dr Wile reported improved health. Ex Police Chief Devery in New York was offered hundreds weekly for vaudeville, described with a confident boast about awaiting the offer.
