Chapman's Farewell Brightens Central Union Meeting
CHAPMAN S FAREWELL wr BS Chapman temperance advocate from Ban Franclsen delivered a farewell talk last evening at Central Union church to a crowded audience. Miss Tom Barber opened with violin, Major Wood of Salvation Army read the script, and Rev ALK Cory offered prayer. Rev G To Pew and Rev W ML Kincaid spoke briefly, with Rev Pearson asking for a free will offering to cover Chapman's expenses. Contributions were pledged, and a denunciation of the liquor traffic was voiced, urging temperance forces to rally. Chapman declared the federal purpose to form a more perfect union and urged defeat of present legislature with emphasis on temperance legislation, noting it will be won by White men, not Hawaiians. At close, pledges for the Anti-Ratzen League district funds were collected amid strong acce tion.
