Drippy Williams and the Amanda Chappell Trial
A seaman named Drippy Williams faces a sudden court martial aboard the Amanda J. Chappel after a disputed shipboard incident. Captain Putnam presides as Williams is charged, defended by an onboard carpenter turned attorney, and the case unfolds with jury and legal maneuvering before Williams is sentenced to forty dollars and banished from the ship’s share. Williams later sails toward Hong Kong with the captain, carrying unresolved tensions and a vow to press forward.
