California Board of Horticulture Meets Hawaiian Agriculture Board

T A Rice of the California State Board of Horticulture met the Hawaiian Board of Agriculture by appointment this morning. The resolution, moved by Wray Taylor and T J King, instructed Prof. Albert Kor dele for entomology to assist in collecting beneficial insects at California’s expense or its agent, and to report actions to the Hawaiian Sugar Industry Association. The motion passed unanimously and Rice expressed gratification to the Bulletin reporter on the reception and cooperation.

The Criterion cap for the one quarter mile dash at the Hawaiian Jockey Club meeting is to bear owner Robert Ballentine and his Avet horse Amarino. Lieut. Colonel Ohne J McCarthy sponsors the trophy, designed by jeweler G Haffner. Crafted of solid sterling silver from K Vanderslice of San Francisco, the piece features three equidistant handles and a plain symmetrical design reflecting the race record.

Bicycle Thieves Beware Under Honolulu Trade Board Action

The Honolulu Cycle Board of Trade vows strict pursuit of bicycle thieves with a $25 reward for information leading to conviction and provision of a lawyer to attend to the case. Owners urged to describe and send details of lost wheels to J W Harvey or D E Whitman. Jim McArnily, the boat loading officer, takes a vacation after a year of service, will be reassigned to another island.

City Mill Company forms to supply guide mariners in Hawaii

Articles approving City Mill Co Ltd show founders Wong Leong K Ai W W Abnon Q Man Kai Pang Chong and Ho Foo with capital 860 000 divided into 60 shares of 100 each. The plan includes rice millers merchants planing mill lumber and contractor supplies. Buildings on Queen and Kauluk streets were started last month for the rice and planing mills. Machinery expected from New York in five weeks. Subscriptions show Chinese interest only. white men have sought shares but none issued. current view on Chinese admissions under advisement.

Diamond Head Reservoir Project Moves Forward

Residents of Diamond Head gain a planned storage reservoir on the slope with capacity near 991000 gallons and 110 feet elevation above center. Water from Beretonia Street pumping will supply Waikiki pressure for irrigation. Government or private contract undecided. Also notes a parallel ditch proposal, and a Boys Brigade formed to consolidate city clubs aiming to grow Christian work.

Diamond Head Lighthouse Nearing Completion and Operation

Readable sections describe the Diamond Head Light house nearing final work and soon to be turned over to the Government. Details include 145 feet elevation, 56 foot foundation, 240 degree light radius, 1500 candle power lamp, and construction from French materials. Meeting on Fourth of July preparations at drill wheel

All American citizens are asked to attend a meeting at 7 30 this evening in the drill wheel to form an arrangements committee for the upcoming Fourth of July celebration. Large attendance is urged. Special efforts are being painted for a comedy at the Opera House on Saturday night.
