Stodart Leaves for Mauna Kea Planting Post

Me Stodart, ten years chief engineer of Spreckelsville MIM, departs for Mauna Kea plantation as manager. Last week he boosted sugar output to 160 percent in 24 hours, a new MIM record, using a Fulton iron roller mill and new clarifying system. His colleagues praise his all around plantation expertise and wish him success.

Social invitations and local notices mix in June events

New Propeller Test Boosts Ship Speed and Fuel Saving

Captain John Kr. Macaulay plans a patent for an improved propeller. A trial on Saturday showed 8% more revolutions per minute and 16 seconds faster mile with the same fuel use. Further blade changes aim to increase speed by about 25 percent without extra fuel. In sports, Kamehameha defeats Artillery 21 to 7, with changes blamed for Artillery’s poor form. Wells on plantation reach new depths and pumps due

Muamalei Sugar Company reports wells drilled to over a thousand feet from shore with water levels rising four feet. A tonined pump proves consistent, a new wharf is to be completed by J Onderkirk, and a coast pump engine will arrive in July for operation by August.

Franchise Dispute Over Hawaii Rail Lines Leads to Cabinet Debate

A lengthy statement recounts President Dole and officials resisting an alternate railroad proposal before the Hilo project was approved.
