Notable preacher Parker recalls humble early years
The text recalls Parker’s youth before wealth, noting his simple life with little, his generosity to church work, and tea for visitors. A stern schoolmaster and a minister who spoke frankly about tyranny shape his memories, while a musing about a cabinet minister listening to a sermon hints at public reception. The passage then shifts to a distant note on Bremen’s 1000 cotton purchases and European markets.
