Spanish claim that Hawaii Islands were discovered by Gaytan before Cook

A Madrid Royal Geographical Society address argues the Hawaiian archipelago was first seen by Spanish explorer Juan de Gaytan in 1555 during the Villalobos voyage, predating Captain Cook by two centuries. It cites letters, charts, and a Madrid hydrography archive noting islands named with Spanish forms and positions near Hawaii, claiming Cook rediscovered them using earlier Spanish MSS.
