ULYSSES HARRIS PUGILIST DIES IN HOSPITAL
Ulysses Harris a well known colored pugilist shot by Geneau died at Queen's Hospital at 9 20 this morning after a long illness. Harris who had long lived in Honolulu and worked odd jobs including a soda stand seller at baseball games had been in and out of health and was once barred from the ring. Geneau, waiter on the gunboat Wheeling, faced murder in the first degree after Harris's death. A postmortem showed death from wounds with obstruction of the intestine and lung complications. The article notes Harris's Sacramento roots and mentions Cooper remaining for a county commission meeting. Paintings of King Kalakaua and Queen Liliuokalani were moved to the executive chamber in the Capitol.
