Pali Road Progress by Young Contractors on Hawaii
Wilson and Whitehouse begin the Pali road contract in Hawaii. 30 to 40 men at start, now about 150, targeting completion by mid November though December 20 deadline. The 3500 foot end features a 20 foot bench with 16 foot macadam roadway, stone drainage, and a 24 foot concrete bridge toward Waimanalo. The line runs along a cliff face with a dramatic drop, a narrow trail for walking, and a bold engineering plan highlighting a 7 foot arch and concrete support. The young partners, Quails? Wilson from Hawaii’s native town and Whitehouse from Oakland California, are Stanford alums and have secured additional railway and island projects.

Areorde Harry F Mareball of Nashua New Hampshire rode 305 miles in twenty four hours ending at midnight. A previous mark was by A W Evans of New Brunswick New Jersey. At Combination Park Medford Massachusetts July 6 Marion Mille the Guideless pacer lowered her record from 2 07 to 2 05. The mare circled the track without a driver and excited onlookers with her fast pace.
