Banana growers on the islands stand to gain from two steamship firms upgrading facilities and offering lower rates to California markets. American Hawaiian Steamship Company plans a special banana service from this port to San Francisco using ships with Mush decks to carry lighter freight. Globe Navigation Company, via the Tampico, will haul bananas to Seattle with cold storage able to hold 1200 bunches at 35 cents per bunch if large shipments occur.
