In a Hawaii federal court in Hilo Judge Dole presided as a grand jury met and immediately began deliberations. Four liquor-related indictments resulted in convictions while one defendant who pleaded guilty earned seven months and the others nine months. the trial concluded with the final report and steamer-bound judge Littie's court observed.
Frank Turk told Police Court he went to his wife Estrella Turk's Walk Place home to discuss business when she ordered him off the lanai. He says she fired at him from a doorway about fifteen feet away, grazing his leg and wounding him faintly near the heart. He planned X ray tests later. Separately a Palace exhibit bills a 124 pound punch bowl for the World's Fair, priced over 1400.
Pinal plans exist for the extradition of Adachi the Japanese wanted by federal authorities for perjury linked to alleged prostitution rings. United States Marshal Hendry will depart on the America Maru for Japan to arrest Adachi who fled when under pressure. Extradi tion papers were sent to Yokohama and Adachi awaits the marshal’s arrival. The Bulletin claimed exclusive news of Hendry’s trip. Further investigations followed.
The cotton commission house of A. B. Banter folded in New Orleans on January 30, a longtime major firm with branches across the South. The press reports anticipate further failures in the cotton trade as a result.
The Bulletin notes it secured the news from its own observation not from others and the report is correct. A practical working laboratory for delineating minors will be an exhibit of the Colorado School of Mines at the World’s Fair operated by students.
