Red Cross Society Holds Meeting in Nansea Street HQ

The Red Cross Society met at Irwin block headquarters this morning as Mrs. C. B. Cooper read a report. Members have quietly aided sick soldiers. post Manila transport cuts reduced excuses from thousands to hundreds. Total on hand around $700. The secretary’s treasurer Mra. E. W. Jordan presented the report. The group will continue emergency work, keep rooms open for soldiers writing letters or reading, and collect contributions from hotels and stores though results were disappointing with some prank contributions.

E Poppleton complained that J B West used threatening language and promised to unmash his hand after a quarrel over a $5 45 bill. West was summoned, Mrs Poppleton testified similarly. Judge Wilcox urged payment so they could pass each other by in the street. The bill was paid and he was discharged.

Mene Conner and Delia Clymer praised for teaching at Kamehameha School. The concert last night drew a large crowd and featured Mrs Cooper and Mr Harold Mott Smith giving notable vocal and instrumental performances. Mott Smith’s cello and Smith’s piano were highlighted as exceptionally artistic.
