Berlin reports no official confirmation of press claims about the Panther incident. German officials say they have received no word from warship commanders about taking initiative.
Editor Gonzales of The State newspaper in Columbia, South Carolina died today from injuries suffered when attacked by Lieutenant Governor Tillman. The incident occurred January 19, with Gonzales sustaining fatal wounds.
The German steamship Lahn went ashore at Gibraltar but the passengers are safe. The ship is immovable and the position is not dangerous. Passengers and freight are being taken off the vessel.
Surgeon General Wyman announced ninety three plague cases in San Francisco at the conference. A resolution urged Governor Pardee and Mayor Schmitz to cooperate with Federal authorities to suppress plague while delegates from San Francisco denied any cases.

In Police Court a young man appeared charged with a misdemeanor for gambling. The same morning a second- degreen offender was caught in the act by Judge Wilcox while attempting theft from the court. Mrs Lepeka Haawinaaupo, a known Hawaiian woman and Kawain hao church member, died Sunday morning after a short illness. Chas Plimoku, Kubuna Piimoki and others were fined $25 each for gambling. The Bulletin added 016 new subscribers in the last three months.

Wailuku January 17 funeral services for Willie Conway, brought from Honolulu by Mauna Loa last Tuesday, were held at the family residence in Waikapu and the remains interred in the Waikapu church cemetery. The bereaved parents, sole survivors of their child, express gratitude for the care and support from Kamehameha, teachers, horses, and physicians who strove to save the boy.
