Rifle Competition at Hawaiian Rifle Association Meet

The semi annual Hawaiian Rifle Association shoot drew crowds as W. E. Wall won the Brodie Gap and the President's Trophy for the third time with scores of 93 in the 600 yard championship, 44 in the Brodie Cup, and top marks in several events. Second place among others went to J. D. McVeigh and J. L. McLean with notable scores across 200 and 600 yard events.

Social Event at Independence Park Welcomes New Year

The Independence Park pavilion hosted a large Elite gathering by the Lei Tina Club on New Year’s Eve despite threaten ing weather and prior engagements. Decorations included fine drapery with green palms and ferns, refreshments were served, and a program featuring Hawaiian music by Ka waihia club and a piece by Sylvester Kalama with Professor Berger accompanied. The celebration ended around 2 15 a m with horn tooting and dancing. Reception and Lunch for Young Men by YMCA

The annual YMCA reception and lunch for young men drew over a hundred attendees yesterday from 12 to 2. Mrs S B Dole, Mrs F J Lowrey, Mrs D P Birnie and Mrs Paul Neumann greeted guests. tables were organized by Mrs S. M. Damon with helpers J A Gilman and others. Secretary Corbett and Mrs Lowrie assisted, while Misses Carter and Hartwell and many others served waitstaff. A large turnout extended New York greetings to attendees.

Crawfish Exports From Five Mile Slough To West Coast Markets

About 1000 dozen crawfish are shipped weekly from the five mile slough just above Westport Oregon to markets in Porthind San Francisco and QOhiengo. Attempts are under way to acclimate Seuteh grouse in Denmark. The birds thrive wet on the moorland of Jutliod. They are fenced not the wod of the next year.

New Year reception at Executive Building honors President Dole

President and Mrs. Dole hosted a New Year reception at the Executive Building at 11 o'clock. A steady stream of three hundred couples and officials from diplomacy, judiciary, and military attended, including ministers, senators, judges, consuls, and generals. The Hawaiian Band provided music as the event, considered the most successful of President Dole's tenure, unfolded with minimal ceremony beyond wreaths and plants.

Prisoners Pardoned by President Dole After Council's Recommendation

The Y MGA CONCERT A Novelty Club Show

The YMCA concert at Ruyern Gymnasium featured a new orchestra making its first public appearance and a lively variety of acts. Miss Kate McGrew sang poorly due to a cold, Grace Kiards and Tom Binck provided vocal and recitation highlights, while D K Unanna and the Young Hawaiian Institute troupe drew the strongest applause with novel club swinging and coordinated performances. Receipts and expenses are not yet tallied, but the event likely reduced the building’s remaining debt.

The Hawaiian Band led by Prof Borger will give a concert at Thomi Square this evening at 7:80. The program includes a selection of Hawaiian melodies and traditional marches.
