Solemn Memorial in St Andrew's Cathedral
A large gathering attended the solemn memorial for Queen Victoria at St Andrew's Cathedral despite bad weather. Governor Dole and dignitaries filled the pews as flags draped pillars and German English banners marked mourning, with Queen Lilivokalani and Prince David among late 19th century Honolulu figures present. The service featured Chopin’s funeral march, readings from Ecclesiastes and St John, anthems by a quartet, and a sermon by Bishop Willis praising Victoria’s influence for peace.
