Tragic theater fire leaves hundreds dead
A disastrous blaze at The Taquale theater in the United States results in 662 reported deaths and many injuries. A faulty electric wiring ignited the scenery, a failed curtain drop trapped patrons, and the crowd of women and children struggled to escape as flames spread rapidly. Fire exits proved inadequate and many victims suffocated or were trampled.
