A cipher purporting to come from Boer Commandant Delarey claims he cannot hold out past January. The Times correspondent reports Delarey about forty miles northwest of Klerksdorp with about 409 men. The War Office remains cautiously hopeful about the war outlook.
Buenos Ayres reports a telegram from Valparaten saying Chile ended negotiations for a Russian destroyer built by Cramp Ship Building Company of Philadelphia. Chile also secured a fore part law from the builders and ordered torpedo boat destroyers, to deliver the vessels early next January.

A Ontario woman Mrs Mat e Gregory writes to The Bulletin seeking her brother believed lost for years. The letter suggests Captain James Gregory of the steamer Mikahala may be the man, with further notes that a William Gregory and his daughter Mattie live in Vancouver. Captain Gregory says he has never been lost and will reply with information about the Gregory family.
The Bulletin notes a new savings society at 24 California Street offering 3 percent annual dividend on all deposits. A half year ending December 1907 was declared, payable after January 2, with George Tournay serving as secretary.
Dividend notice from California Safe Deponit Trust Co announces six months ending December 1904 with deposits at 3 10 per cent and ordinary deposits at 4 percent per annum, tax free, payable after Thursday January 2102. Uncalled dividends to be applied to the principal and bear the interest from the date of the original note. signature lines include BALZALL WTtOWN and Teas aw Macniaset.
The Anglo American Telegraph Company states it is not opposed to considering proposals to continue wireless experiments by Marconi in Newfoundland. A right to publish the correspondence with Newfoundland advisers is noted, and Marconi’s telegram about delaying wireless service due to legal action is addressed with a reply from Mr Marson confirming continuation was planned.
