Christmas Services Crowded Across City Cathedrals

Crowds filled churches yesterday morning for Christmas services. St Andrew's held six services with Wray Taylor on organ. The Second Congregation 9:80 service featured Mise McGrew's soprano solos and especially fine music. The cathedral was crowded. Central Union church also drew a large congregation with a well rendered musical portion.

Aluminum Shoes Tested on Cavalry Horses in Finland

Mores Shoes of Aluminum and Rossin ues tried experiments with aluminum shoes for cavalry horses. A few horses in the Finland Dragoons were shod with one aluminum shoe and three iron shoes each. The aluminum shoes were used on fore feet in some cases and hind feet in others. The six week trial showed aluminum shoes lasted longer and preserved the hoof better than iron shoes.

Honolulu Team Defeats Wild Swan in Christmas Cricket Match

The Honolulu and H. B. M. 8 Wild Swan cricket teams played a Christmas afternoon return match. Honolulu won by 58 runs for one innings, with Wild Swan scoring 27 in the match. Time ended with Honolulu resigning wickets to permit further batting. Five men batted wide in the second innings, Honolulu totaling 68 and Wild Swan 44, making the overall score Honolulu 126, Wild Swan 71.

Old Settler Dies After Pneumonia at 76

Obituary notes W C Lane, 76, early Honolulu resident born in Ireland, died of pneumonia. A long-time farmer and former legislator, he led a life of hospitality and service to Kaneohe area, with 10 surviving children and a large family. Funeral arrangements to be held at Makao with Odd Fellows involvement.

After years of asthma and confinement to his room, J Glocker died at his home. He had lived here about three years and his illness was treated by Dr McLennan and others.

Circus Crowded At Honolulu Shows With Fundraiser

The circus drew large crowds at two performances in Honolulu with high audience attendance.
