Cadet Cadre Arms Plan Touches Territory Militia

A legislative push aims to legalize cadet military organizations in Hawaii schools with federal funding. The plan would allow student battalions and bands attached to the organized militia, with cadet officers and noncommissioned leaders appointed by school principals and the governor. Equipment costs would be minimal, funded by existing federal grants.

Serenade brings Ko- Jon home to Kalop and Kapaa band

A Kalop to Kapaa serenade event led by M A Rego celebrated Silva’s return from abroad with a veranda concert at M tore. The troupe traveled by six rigs to Keele, then to Kapain, entertaining neighbors and sharing refreshments. Provisions were supplied by M A Rege as the band performed solos and youths hosted a meal before returning to Kalop. Weather last week was stormy with a bridge freshet at Kapain. two lives were reportedly lost in a Hulala and a drowning incident involving Jabanere. Mohammed Khan and James organized Junglery tricks exhibition at Hilo. An event is planned again this evening.

Bishop Restarick Holds Services on Mili

Wailuku reports Bishop Restarick preaching to large congregations at Lahaina and Wailea churches on December 7. Converts welcomed. Canon Weymouth assisted. Destructive Reef Storms Halt Maui Roads and Flood Towns

After weeks of heavy rains on central and eastern Maui many roads in Walluka Makawae and Kutadintelote were washed out and blocked. Flooding threatened homes and crops with several washouts on Maainen and Chimehame routes. Road crews faced ongoing danger as further landslides, water over roadbeds, and mountain torrents forced closure and extensive temporary repairs. Officials urged funding for permanent repairs to prevent future washouts and protect plantations and cane crops.

Forestry chief Pinchot to visit Honolulu amid forestry drive
