Oalu Railway to Increase Capital to Two Million Dollars

At a special stockholders meeting yesterday afternoon the Oalu Railway and Land Co voted to raise capital by half to two million dollars. Directors may transfer Kawailoa ranch lease to Waialua Agricultural Co. New stock will be sold on the open market to fund further development. The company has cleared most floating debt and paid about $275,000 since September 23, with bonded debt of two million and current accounts owed. Net indebtedness stands around $1,650,000 while unencumbered assets total $350,000. Carrying for eleven months exceeded earnings by about $45,040, with expected railway carriage around $255,000 for the year.

Mohican Arrives with 1200 Tons of Goods from San Francisco

The American bark Mohican, Captain Sarmdert, arrived at the port around 9:30 am from San Francisco after a 16 day voyage, consigned to Castle & Cooke with about 1200 tons of general merchandise aboard. Principal shipments include flour, leather, hardware, sewing machines, and wine among others. Five crew were lost overboard in a heavy earlier blow and the captain notes unusually rough seas. Aiden Besse departed earlier, likely to share similar weather tales.
