Gasoline schooner Ward enters port after calm voyage

The gasoline schooner Flaurence Ward, under Captain Fleming, arrived this forenoon and anchored at the Restorer. The eighteen and a half day trip from San Francisco passed in unusually pleasant weather. The Ward sighted oil steamer Santa Rita which reported all well. No passengers were aboard for this port, only general cargo for Midway. Waterfront chatter claims previous friction between Captain Fleming and Hare shortmaster’s office, with Maremaster Fuller directing Ward to anchor on the Restorer’s port side through Captain Trip’s execution of orders.
