Alibi Jewelry From Ws Jones Robbery Report

A盗: Mrs E W Jones was robbed of her jewelry yesterday afternoon in Kinau street residence. The thief entered the partly open house between 1 and 4 pm while relatives were away. The top drawer of Mrs Jones bedroom bureau was emptied, with other nearby drawers left intact. Items include a plain gold wedding ring, two diamond rings, an opal ring, a topax ring, a coat of arms pin, and several other pieces valued at hundreds. Detective David Kanpate is on the case.

Dredging Naval Slips Underway at Pearl Harbor

Cotton Brothers' bio suction dredger started dredging the slips this morning. Mud and silt have filled the slips to depths of about 25 to 28 feet with a target of restoring them to 30 feet. Dredged material is being banked into the triangular Waikiki side area of Naval Dock No. 2, owned by Sorenson & Lyle.

Rumor on Kona Kau Railway Sale and Survey Change

Rumor from Kona story camp claims Wilson Lyon Co has quit the Kona Kau Railway project and handed work to W A Wall the surveyor in charge. The report could not be confirmed despite inquiries from visitors arriving at Mauna Loa. The Kinau steamer sailed, returning from the volcano with speed as the foe boat recently hauled for cleaning.

One Man Adrift in a Drifting Boat Near Harbor

W Adamethwaite went alone to the waterfront to enjoy sea air and departed at 4 00 p m aboard Minnie near the harbor. A break left him with one oar and he drifted all night, shivering in cold, watched the Diamond Head light, then rescued by a whaleboat and Japanese sampans. He was found dawn drenched and exhausted, later resting safely in his hotel room. Deputy Sheriff Charlee Chillingworth organized the search and guided the rescue effort.

Hongkong dispatch reports the Empress of India ran down and sank the Chinese cruiser Huangtai. Thirteen were drowned and 170 rescued.

Three New Unx Questions Submitted for Opinions

Three new Unx questions were submitted to Attorney General Andrews for opinions this afternoon. Two ask if a total investment loss can be deducted from net income under the income tax law when the investment is a total failure and when the deduction may be allowed. The third asks whether corporations or individuals are entitled to depreciation, specifically stocks or assets. Andrews, recently in office, has issued over 200 written opinions, with few oral ones, averaging more than one per day.

Warning to Pioneer Mill as Lahaina Seminary Lands Queried
