Travelling library proposal and teacher resignations at board meeting

The board of education met with most members present. Resignations were adopted for multiple teachers including Miss Eaton Dowdel Kelsey Perry and others to various schools. Townsend proposed a three year diploma scheme for teachers, endorsed by Minister Cooper, with no expense to the department. A traveling school library plan was approved to rotate volumes among schools.

Lawyer Wins Sailor Reinstate Victory in Honolulu

Jenson, a bluejacket, faced trial after a remark at the ship landing led to a sword strike and a brig sentence. After initial clemency reduced by Admiral Beardslee, Lawyer Macdonald appealed to President McKinley. Idaho and Utah Men Voyage via Vancouver to Japan

Benatore F. T. Duboie of Idaho and Frank Cannon of Utah planned a stop in Honolulu en route to Japan, sailing via Vancouver and arriving August 2. They are expected to return by the same route.
