A dispatch from London reports the town of Magagan in Morocco was destroyed during a bombardment by French and Spanish cruisers. The steamer Hilonian, Captain Johnson, docked at the Brewers' wharf after a seven day four hour voyage from San Francisco. Passengers included Mrs J Mackherson, Mrs J Robinson, Mrs R Thompson, M Granger, H J Day, and Misses Baker Turner. Japanese steerage passengers Fuji ingto and wife were deported by Welch & Co per the ward passenger list. The ship carried 18,000 tons of general cargo for the port.
