Hilonian Arrives at Brewers Wharf From San Francisco

The steamer Hilonian, Captain Johnson, docked at the Brewers' wharf after a seven day four hour voyage from San Francisco. Passengers included Mrs J Mackherson, Mrs J Robinson, Mrs R Thompson, M Granger, H J Day, and Misses Baker Turner. Japanese steerage passengers Fuji ingto and wife were deported by Welch & Co per the ward passenger list. The ship carried 18,000 tons of general cargo for the port.

Taft Sets World Tour From Seattle August 18

Secretary of War Taft will begin a world tour on August 18, sailing from Seattle aboard the Minnesota, with a return planned for September 10. In unrelated dispatches from Santiago de Chile and Casablanca, a carbonic acid pipe explosion sparked a brewery fire killing and wounding dozens, and desultory fighting raged with casualties in the Jewish quarter. An explosion in Lichon injured four anarchists.
