Wairleale Returns After Guano Island Voyage

The steamer Waialee returned to Honolulu at 10 30 p m Sunday after a twenty six day voyage to search for guano islands Morell and Byers. Captain Mosher reports detailed stops at Bird Necker Laysan Pearl Hermes Midway Ocean and Byers positions noting no land at Byers or Morell and questioning historic island placements. Officials assess collected samples for profitability while Envoy Sewall paid an official call on the Hawaiian Government.

Large US colors shield lit by 160 incandes cent bulbs

A vast shield formed of 160 incandesc ent lights in US colors was completed at the Hawaiian Electric Company shops.
