A Wray of the Sixth Artillery died aboard the Nippon Masa at sea on April 17. The body is in the undertaking parlors of E A Williams. Funeral date not yet set. He was twenty, born in Charlotte North Carolina April 17, 1879, and recently joined the command. He was well liked by the artillery men.
Lehua Kona was badly cut above the eye after an incident at a coffee shop near the Tele phone Exchange. He says he was struck from behind with a wooden billet by an employee and pursued in self defense. Police detained four Chinese men on assault and battery charges at the station.
Dillingham to the Chamber proposes adding harbor facilities and a channel to Kalihi basin. Boring tests show easy, cheap excavation potential and 150 acres of reef land plus 350 acres of adjacent flat land may be reclaimed for warehouses. Capital likely raised by bonds secured on lands. A chart shows deep soundings and possible dredging or suction dredge use.
In the police court the morning Sack Tong was fined 850 and costs for unlawful possession of opium. Ab Cheon, on defaiding in possession, was fined 20 dollars and costs. Gow Harris of Australia was fined 1 dollar and costs for assault and battery on T. Woollis. The case was not one of much importance.
